DESCRIPTION:Climate Fresk for School Staff\n \n \n \n \n \n \ n Workshop Overview \n \n \n Build confidence in t alking about climate change and sustainability in your school\n \n \n \n Climate Fresk is a highly e ngaging and interactive workshop that gives space for school staff to explore the science behind cli mate change\, discuss practical solutions\, and id entify opportunities for positive action and curri culum links within their school community.\n \n \n \n We are delighted to offer this dedicated sessi on for school staff across Coastal Furness\, South Cumbria and Lancaster at a heavily subsidised rat e of just £19 per person (normally £97)\, thanks t o support from Walney Extension Community Fund. (https://futu reproofcumbria.org.uk/training/furness-south-cumbr ia-lancaster/#map)\n \n \n \n The workshop is open to teachers\, teaching assistants\, governors\, s chool leaders\, school staff and other education p rofessionals working in primary and secondary scho ols.\n \n \n \n Schools have an increasingly impor tant role to play in preparing young people for a changing climate and creating more sustainable com munities. Climate Fresk provides a strong foundati on in climate science\, helping staff build confid ence in discussing climate change and supporting s ustainability initiatives within their school.\n \ n \n \n Using 42 cards based directly on the lates t reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Clim ate Change (IPCC)\, participants work together to map the causes and consequences of climate change. Guided by an experienced facilitator\, groups exp lore the connections\, feedback loops and impacts within the climate system through discussion\, col laboration and problem-solving.\n \n \n \n The wor kshop is accessible to people from all backgrounds and levels of knowledge. Whether climate change i s already part of your role or you're just beginni ng to explore the topic\, Climate Fresk offers an engaging and thought-provoking learning experience .\n \n \n \n More than 2.3 million people worldwid e have now taken part in Climate Fresk workshops\, making it one of the world's most popular climate education programmes.\n \n \n \n The session will be delivered by Futureproof Cumbria's experienced training team. We are the lead partner of the Zer o Carbon Cumbria programme\, and have extensive ex perience supporting organisations\, communities an d individuals to understand climate change and tak e practical action.\n \n \n \n Please see below fo r further details about this training. Please arrive in good time to help us sta rt promptly at 1:30pm.\n \n \n \n Teas\, coffee\, and biscuits will be available upon arrival and du ring the session break. \n \n \n \n There is no pr eparation required in advance.\n \n \n \n \n \n \ n \n Venue details\n \n \n The workshop will be he ld at Ryleands Primary School and Nursery.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Travel\n \n \n The school is well served by local bus routes from Lancaster city ce ntre\, Morecambe and surrounding areas\, with seve ral bus stops within a short walk of the venue. La ncaster railway station is approximately 1 mile aw ay (20–25 minutes on foot)\, with regular rail ser vices from across Cumbria\, Lancashire. We have booked a room large en ough for the group but there will still inevitably be background noise from other tables. If that wo uld cause issues for you\, please contact us in ad vance of booking to discuss options.\n \n \n \n If you have any accessibility requirements or feel t here is anything we should know in advance of the course to helo you fully participate\, please add this to your booking form. For example if you want to make our trainers aware of any learning diffic ulties\, dyslexia or any sight\, mobility or heari ng impairments.\n \n \n \n There will be photos ta ken on the day of the training session in action\, for us to use in publicity materials.
