Climate Action Plan training for schools

Is your school ready for the 2025 Department for Education sustainability requirements?

We provide bespoke training to help you develop your climate action plan and meet DfE targets.

The Department for Education’s guidance document ‘Sustainability leadership and climate action plans in education‘ requires all schools, early years settings, multi-academy trusts, colleges and universities to have a sustainability lead and put in place a climate action plan by 2025.

As well as meeting the DfE target, having a Climate Action Plan will reduce your carbon footprint, decrease your energy costs, reduce your waste output, and increase engagement with pupils, students, staff, parents and the wider community. We can deliver a webinar or face to face workshops to help you meet these targets.

Who is this training for?

Existing and potential sustainability leads, the wider sustainability leadership team, headteachers, governors, teachers, teaching assistants, students and pupils.

What will I get?

  • An introduction to sustainability practices.
  • An understanding about how to use the four step approach to implement a climate action plan within your setting.
  • Knowledge of how to create your climate action plan using our template, focused on the four areas outlined by the DfE.
  • Practical examples of things to include in your climate action plan.

How will the training be delivered?
Our Climate Action Plan training can be adapted to your specific requirements. It can be delivered online or in person, or you might like to attend one of our open courses.

We can also offer ongoing one to one support for:
  • A cluster/group of schools or trust located across Cumbria.
  • An individual school for all those interested or involved in sustainability and the climate action plan.

I am interested, what next?

Get in touch with Jane Simpson, our Training & Events Coordinator via email to organise an initial conversation so that we can understand your needs. We can then design and deliver a bespoke face to face workshop or webinar(s), ensuring attendees can build their climate action plan and sustainability team.
