Thermal Imaging for Households – Volunteers Required in Penrith

thermal

We currently work with seven community groups across Cumbria to offer free basic thermal imaging home visits throughout the colder months to help residents identify where their house is losing heat. Understanding where there are cold spots or heat leaks can help residents make positive choices about what to do next to make their homes warmer, healthier, more energy efficient and cheaper to run. Volunteers also help to sign post residents to the free and affordable home energy services that we offer.

This winter, with the support of funding from Eden Locality Board we are working with Penrith Action for Community Transition (PACT) to expand the volunteer-led service to the Penrith area, and are looking for volunteers to carry out the home visits.

Training and loan of a camera for volunteers will be given by our team and no previous experience is necessary. The visits are conducted in pairs in the early morning or evening, with each visit taking around 45 minutes. We will then follow up each visit with an advice call to offer support to households with anything that might have been identified from the images taken.

PACT are hosting an information session on Monday 1st September, 7:30 at the Quaker Meeting House, where you can find out more. If you would like to go along, please email info@penrithact.org.uk
